Inventors Hall of Fame
William L. Carlson, Jr.
(1921 - 1989) Researcher and engineer for the University of Minnesota and several Minnesota companies, including DeZurick and Honeywell, Carlson holds 31 United States patents in varied fields, chiefly relating to pumps and valves. Trained as an engineer, he worked on company problems trying to find an innovative way to solve them. His experience ran the gamut, from designer to educator to administrator. He not only displayed a strong innovative ability in his own right, but also stimulated the innovative process in those working with him. His interest and involvement in education was boundless and his spirit left its mark on both faculty and students alike.
